Comedy, Music, and Dance: Local Fundraising Events for Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders enthusiasts in the Pioneer Valley and beyond have a lot to look forward to in the following months. There will be a variety of fundraising events held locally for the Democratic presidential candidate. A junior Senator from Vermont, Sanders is known for such goals as cutting taxes for the middle and lower classes, raising the minimum wage, and providing universal health care.

Boogie for Bernie

One of the events will be held on Saturday, January 30th at 6:30 pm. Titled Boogie for Bernie, it is advertised as a chance for the community to come together and take dance lessons. The dance will feature music by Blue Rendezvous with their mixture of R&B, Blues, Swing, and Latin sounds. It is a $10 entrance donation, and the proceeds will then be donated to Sander's campaign fund.  It will be hosted in Florence, MA, at 18 Meadow St.

Bands for Bernie

A second event is called Bands for Bernie and will be hosted on February 4th at the Sierra Grill in Northampton, MA. Performing will be Aloha Steamtrain, Winterpills, The Fawns, and other headliners.

Stand Up for Bernie

A third event will be hosted on Valentine's Day (February 14th) in Brattleboro, Vermont. A comedy fundraiser, this event is titled Stand Up for Bernie, and will be hosted by Kendall Farrell and will be featuring comedians from Boston, Vermont, and New York. Tickets are $20 online, $25 at the door, and all proceeds go to Sander's campaign.

Artists are coming together from all over to support Sanders, and it is no different for Northampton musicians Jeremy Dubs and Lord Russ. Below is their take on the O'Jay's "For the Love of Money" entitled "For the Love of Bernie"
