Local Graphic Designer Creates Line of Spooky-Themed Products

EASTHAMPTON – Robert Engman has recently launched Von Engman’s Shirt Vault: cool, creepy shirts for any occasion. Just in time for Halloween.

Engman’s shirts – and items from shower curtains to pillows – feature heart-shaped zombies, vampires, retro robots, witches, werewolves, aliens and more; there are shirts for men, women and even infants.

Inspiration for the shirt designs came in part from a display of 50 creative hearts on a LinkedIn forum last Valentine’s Day.

I've loved monster movies, Halloween, spooky things and the like for as long as I can remember, so my natural instinct for design, combined with my life-long love affair with scary stuff, just sort of co-mingled to create these designs,” Engman said.  “I wanted to create spooky, yet classy designs for Halloween all year long”

Engman’s T-shirt business is an off-shoot of his main enterprise, Robert Engman Graphic Design. Art runs in his family, he said; his parents met in art school, and his father and uncle are both artists.

"I’ve always loved creating things and practically lived in the art classrooms of my junior and senior high schools,” Engman said. “I started my career 30 years ago, creating editorial cartoons for the Valley Advocate, and I’m still loving the work.”
