Dr. Richard Ely and Workshops for the Visually Impaired

Dr. Richard Ely plans to work in collaboration with Forbes Library to conduct a series of talks on technology for those with vision loss. Classes will be free of charge and open to all. Dr. Ely plans to present three talks; Enlarged Screen or Synthetic Speech Access to your PC, Free Audio Access to the PC and Introducing JAWS Screen Reading Software.

His classes plan to explain how technology accessibility is widely available and easily learnable. Each workshop goes into an hour and a half of detail about how to use various programs to be able to access the internet efficiently. The first class is on Monday, May 9th from 3:30pm to 5pm, the second is on Monday, June 13th from 3:30pm to 5pm and the final class is on Monday, September 12th from 3:30pm to 5pm. The classes are funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
