Kurt Vile and The Violators to Perform at Pearl Street

"I feel like when I say something sad, I mean it. I guess I’m just realistic. I think I’m smart enough – or I’ve got enough personality – to know that you always need a punchline at the end of it. Nobody wants a complainer."-Kurt Vile

Singer/Songwriter Kurt Vile and the Violators are showcasing at the Pearl Street Ballroom on Thursday, February 18, 2016 ~8:30PM.

Vile, and his backing band The Violators, will highlight their sixth and newest album, "b'lieve I'm goin down". Originally known for his use of low-fi technology, Vile has once again utilized his skill for creating honest music within every track of the album.  Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth wrote, "The record is all air, weightless, bodyless, but grounded in convincing authenticity, in the best version of singer songwriter upcycling.”

Vile is known for songs that share the contrast of both a melancholy tone with a touch of humor. His music lacks the straightforward brightness of modern-day pop, maintaining a very subdued energy. Vile's album may express darker hues of blue than your average tune, but will keep you in check with reality by consequently reminding you of life's little humors. In his own words Vile says, "Nobody wants a complainer."
