NEC-ISA Tree Climbing Competition

The New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (NEC-ISA) hosted its annual Tree Climbing Championship on the Smith College Seeleye Lawn this past Saturday, June 13. Professional arborists and climbers from across New England perform safety and tree care challenges such as aerial rescue, throw line, and foot locking. The winners of the competition will be sent to the International Tree Climbing Championship held in Dallas, Texas in the spring of 2016.

The entire Smith College campus is an arboretum, with over 1,000 woody plants, making it the perfect spot for New England tree workers to gather and share their knowledge. The ISA also picked Smith because in hopes to introduce more women to the arborist industry.
