Fitzwilly's 40th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, June 28th, the local landmark Fitzwilly's restaurant celebrated its 40th anniversary! Northampton's Expandable Brass Band kicked off the parking lot festivities with tunes from the bike trail bridge above Main Street, then marched down to join the waiting crowd.  This free and open to the public event offered food as well as a packed music lineup, serving up pulled-pork sandwiches, barbecued beef brisket, hot dogs, hamburgers, delectable strawberry shortcake, and a selection of beverages.  The Northampton Arts Council was out in full force as well; Steve Sanders was joined by face-painting extraordinaire Ramona Simone to promote the upcoming Transperformance -this year's theme "Off the Map." Fitzwilly's co-owner Fred Gohr summed up the event, saying: "It's just a big party."
