HOLYOKE — Kyle K. Sullivan, a commercial lines coverage specialist with the John M. Glover Insurance Agency, has been named the Western Massachusetts Regional Member of the Year for BNI, an international business networking group.

Sullivan has been a member of the BNI Mill River Chapter in Northampton since March 2011. He is currently vice president of that chapter. The award recognizes a member who is actively involved in running the chapter and has gone beyond expectations to help other members achieve new levels of success through BNI.

Tim Roberts, executive director for BNI Western Massachusetts, said Sullivan also exemplifies the BNI “Givers Gain” philosophy that supports referring business to others.

“We have so many members doing amazing things and helping each other reach new levels of success. It is never easy to pick a Member of the Year, but this year Kyle Sullivan stood out for always giving his all for the betterment of others both in BNI and in the community,” Roberts said.

“He is a true example of what living the Givers Gain philosophy is all about. We are extremely proud to have Kyle as a BNI member and as our 2013 regional Member of the Year.”

Sullivan has worked for the Glover agency for five years and is a third-generation insurance agent. He works with businesses to educate them about the types of risks associated with their business and helps them reduce the chances of a loss through policies. Last year, he was voted “most valuable participant” by class members at the Hartford School of Insurance when he was designated as the commercial lines coverage specialist.

He is also part of the Leadership Pioneer Valley class of 2014, a program that trains emerging leaders from the community – including nonprofits and business and government organizations – through a nine-month leadership development program.

As a new board member of Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts, Sullivan teaches entrepreneurship courses at local high schools, including East Longmeadow High School, as well as elementary schools. He also serves on the events committee for Northampton Area Young Professionals and on various subcommittees for the Young Professionals Society of Greater Springfield. He is also a board member of the Holyoke Blue Sox.
