NORTHAMPTON – The Oxbow Water Ski Show Team finished in first place at the 2013 Eastern Region Ski Show Tournament held at the Oxbow home site in Northampton this summer.
In addition to the Oxbow team, three other teams competed in the tournament on July 26 and 27, including the U.S. Water Ski Show Team from Scotia, N.Y., the Aqua Riders of Holland and the Lake Mohawk Ski Hawks from Sparta, N.J. Each team had one hour to put on an action-packed show including pyramids, barefooting, jumping and dancing.
The award for highest-scoring act of the tournament went to the Oxbow girls ballet line. This act consists of 14 girls being towed behind one boat as they do synchronized moves that score high in difficulty.
In 2014, the Oxbow Ski Team will host the 30th annual Eastern Regional Ski Show Tournament on July 25 and 26. Look for the team in 2014 as they hit the water for a demonstration as soon as the ice recedes and then perform their free shows on Friday nights in June and July at their site on Old Springfield Road.
The Oxbow Water Ski Team thanks its 2013 supporters, including Oxbow Marina, Mantis Graphics, Broad Brook Landscaping, Paisano’s Restaurant and Dan’s Domestic Auto Repair. “We are also grateful to our other supporting vendors, officials, volunteers – and the fans who helped make the 2013 season a success,” said Kurt Wonderlich, a trustee on the team’s Board of Directors.
