Mass EPA To Begin Process Of Dam Removal

Notice of MEPA Scoping and Site Visit

EEA #15004:  Dam Removal at Upper Roberts Meadow Reservoir Northampton, MA

Project Description: The project consists of the removal of the Upper Roberts Meadow Reservoir Dam, drawdown of the 4.8-acre impoundment and restoration of a brook through the impoundment area. The project is proposed by the City of Northampton to comply with a Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Dam Safety Order. The dam is an earthen embankment with a curved stone masonry spillway. It was constructed in 1883. The dam is classified by DCR as a High Hazard Class (Class I) structure in “Poor” condition.

Date/Time: Tuesday, February 12 @ 1:00 pm
Location: The Northampton DPW (125 Locust Street)

The Scoping Session will start at 1:00 pm and will be followed by a site visit.
